Service Description

What is a skin patch test? A skin patch test is a quick and convenient way to test for allergies. A small amount of a substance, or potential allergen, is applied to the skin so that any reactions to the substance can be observed. Why do a patch test? Before starting a new treatment that includes applying chemicals and dyes to the eye area, you need to carry out a patch test. A skin patch test is used to detect possible allergies to any substances used during your brow or lash treatment when it comes into contact with your skin. Once the 48-hour window before your treatment is up, and the skin exposed to the patch test remains the same in appearance with no evidence of a reaction, it is considered safe to continue with the treatment. You'll need to look out for signs of itching, redness, pigment changes, or even blistering in rare cases, which will indicate that you’ve had a reaction to chemicals used in the treatments and let Sue know before your appointment. Sue will also look for these symptoms at your appointment. If a reaction occurs, the treatment is unsuitable for you and will be unable to go ahead. Even if your skin show only a little red on a patch test, you must let Sue know. You're exposed to a larger amount of tint when it's applied to your face, and there's a greater chance of a more severe reaction. It's better to be safe than sorry. Please note, reactions to treatment are very rare, but they do happen, and in some instances, can result in painful reactions and occasionally hospitalisation. Even if you’ve had patch tests in the past and haven’t experienced any problems, you MUST complete your patch test. The patch test is THE most important part of your treatment. It’s imperative. Non-negotiable. If you arrive at your appointment and haven’t carried out your patch test, your treatment will have to be rearranged for another time.
